The “Little Leek” Industry Helps Rural Revitalization

Recently, more than 300 acres of leek flowers from Dinglu Agricultural Products Sales Professional Cooperative in Dingzhou City, Hebei Province, competed to bloom. Workers were using sunny weather to accelerate the picking of leek flowers, and the fields were bustling with activity.

According to Zhang Huiyong, the chairman of the cooperative, the cooperative is located in Zhangjiazhuang Village, Zhuanlu Town. It started planting leeks in 1998 and has now developed from scattered planting to large-scale and industrialized planting. It has also achieved brand management and is registered with the “Dinglu” brand trademark.

In recent years, Dingzhou City has deeply implemented the rural revitalization strategy, accelerated the adjustment of agricultural structure, vigorously developed agricultural scale and intensive management, supported the development of agricultural characteristic industries, and actively created an industrial pattern of “one township, one industry, and one village, one product”. Zhangjiazhuang Village in Zhuanlu Town has taken advantage of the situation and has now established a “one village, one product” demonstration village with high brand awareness and strong radiating driving effect.

At present, the cooperative has transferred 1200 acres of land to farmers and built 49 greenhouses, including greenhouses, cold sheds, and high standard intensive seedling cultivation greenhouses. In 2022, our registered ‘Dinglv’ chives passed the green food certification and were granted the right to use the ‘Dingzhou Chives Regional Public Brand’. Zhang Huiyong said that after years of exploration, ‘Dinglv’ chives have formed a unique cultivation method, with thick roots and broad leaves, strong green leaves, good taste, and rich nutrition.
