Developing Organic Agriculture to Assist Rural Revitalization

In recent years, Yongjing County has vigorously developed the organic industry and made every effort to create a national organic food production base. Currently, it has cultivated and formed eight characteristic industries of “cattle, sheep, vegetables, fruits, potatoes, medicinal fungi, and lilies”. The county’s grain planting area is stable at over 227000 mu, with 41500 mu of vegetables, 58800 mu of lilies, 61000 mu of traditional Chinese medicine, and 5500 mu of oil crops, effectively promoting agricultural transformation and upgrading, ecological efficient development, and continuous increase in farmers’ income.

Yongjing County has made the organic industry a key focus of industrial revitalization to support and cultivate. In 2019, it organized and implemented industrial revitalization and household support projects, as well as organic compliance projects. Financial subsidies were provided for investment in organic plant protection products, product testing and certification, providing financial support for the development of the organic industry. At present, 18 enterprises (cooperatives) in the county have obtained 43 organic product certification certificates, with an organic product certification area of 77200 acres and 53 organic production bases established.

At the same time, a “Liujiaxia” organic agricultural product brand system integrating “regional brand, industrial brand, and product brand” has been established, cultivating organic product brands such as Lily and Astragalus. Gansu Liujiaxia Agricultural Development Group has strengthened cooperation with enterprises such as Beijing Tongrentang and Shandong Jiujianpeng, and signed agreements with cooperatives to purchase products such as lilies, astragalus, and ginseng that meet organic standards at a guaranteed price higher than the market price, effectively increasing the income of farmers.
