Unmanned aerial vehicles demonstrate their skills in field patrols, adding “new pets” to smart agriculture

With a roaring sound of motors, a drone took off in the wheat field of He Xinli in Dongli Town, Xiajin County, Dezhou City, Shandong Province, with several young pilots standing on the ground and remotely commanding. This year’s rainfall is heavy, and it is currently a critical period for corn filling. He Xinli has no idea how the crops in the fields are growing, and it is difficult to manually inspect the 500 acre wheat field. I heard that the newly purchased drone in the town can patrol the fields with multispectral analysis, but I don’t believe that He Xinli is an old hand in farming.

Watching the pilot mark the flying land on the computer, set the flight speed and altitude, the drone took off and began automatic field patrols. He Xinli paced up and down the ground, feeling a murmur in his heart.

Agricultural technicians use high-definition multispectral cameras equipped with drones to collect images, videos, and other data and transmit them back to computers for modeling, analyzing and understanding crop growth, disease and pest detection, and initial yield measurement. At present, the crops are growing well and initially filling, maintaining this momentum. It is predicted that the yield per mu will be over 1600 kilograms, but some leaves have rust sprouting. In the coming days, it will be cloudy, and early spraying of pesticides is necessary to prevent it. “The agricultural machinery personnel analyzed the data on the computer for He Xinli, and He Xinli’s face was filled with joy. It’s still high-tech, efficient, and accurate. I can analyze my 500 acres of land in just over ten minutes. It’s much stronger than me going to the fields myself

With the support of farmland data collected by Feifang last year, this field patrol mission is carried out directly according to the planned route, with high efficiency and accurate data. “Fei Shou Yue Qingrui excitedly introduced. It is understood that in 2022, for the first time, Dongli Town divided 51000 acres of arable land into more than 1000 work areas, decomposed tasks and carried out simultaneously, greatly improving work efficiency. The field patrol is expected to be completed within a week.

In recent years, Dongli Town has strengthened infrastructure construction, integrated “digital” agricultural resources, built a “smart” agricultural ecosystem, carried out “refined” services for field trusteeship, and focused on stimulating the development vitality of new agriculture, new rural areas, and new farmers. This has achieved enhanced organizational construction, increased collective economic income, and increased farmers’ income.

Intelligent facility assembly and complete front-end data collection. Dongli Town, through cooperation with Shandong Agricultural University, utilizes advanced technologies such as big data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence to build a 1000 acre digital “ton and a half grain” production capacity experimental base in Zhangguantun Village. It is equipped with micro meteorological stations, soil moisture monitoring devices, insect pest monitoring devices, and other agricultural data collection equipment, as well as two sets of automatic sprinkler irrigation systems. On the basis of new generation information technologies such as the Internet of Things, drones, and multispectral plant sensing, a sky land integrated information collection system is constructed to achieve comprehensive and efficient collection of farmland information. The unmanned aerial vehicle remote sensing platform is equipped with multispectral cameras and 4K high-definition cameras to collect crop growth information in farmland. The collection equipment for ground monitoring of agricultural meteorological information integrates meteorological factor collection sensors such as light sensors, temperature and humidity sensors, rainfall sensors, wind speed and direction sensors into a small meteorological station, equipped with solar power supply devices, installed at the edge of the farmland.
