In the late 1970s, the “old style” of cotton planting became the “new farmer”

At present, in the scorching summer, in the cotton field of Shuangquan Agricultural Professional Cooperative in Shaofang Zhuangzi Village, Daquan Township, Shawan City, green cotton seedlings are thriving. The chairman of the cooperative, He Hongtao, is inspecting the growth of cotton in the cotton field. Next to him, the villager Haydora Cherza sat on the ridge of the field, humming a small tune, and proficiently operating the intelligent irrigation system on his phone.

Ten years ago, this was not the case with Hayila. At the age of 69, he used to be a cotton grower in Zhuangzi Village, Shaofang. From the old cotton farming style to the current intelligent management of cotton fields, he has been dealing with land for more than 50 years.

He Hongtao, who graduated from university, once served as the secretary of the village party branch. Ten years ago, he led the establishment of Shuangquan Agricultural Professional Cooperative and served as its chairman. At the beginning of the establishment of the cooperative, many villagers were hesitant and hesitant to join, and Haydora was also one of them.

He Hongtao did not give up. He invited the villagers to the cooperative’s land, allowing everyone to experience new technologies such as drip irrigation and mechanical cotton picking on site. He Hongtao’s persistence gradually gained recognition from the villagers, who all handed over the land to the cooperative for management. Hayila voluntarily signed up and worked in the daily management of 3000 acres of cotton land in the cooperative. After experiencing the benefits of technological cotton cultivation, he became increasingly motivated.

Hayila talked endlessly about the intelligent systems used in cooperatives. “We have installed moisture sensors in cotton fields. One sensor can manage 50 mu of land, and there is an Internet of Things monitoring system. We can realize real-time monitoring of cotton moisture, diseases and pests, yield and other aspects on computers. We also have applied green pollution-free Pest control technologies such as solar insecticidal lamps and larval yellow plates in cooperatives in a large area.” Speaking of new technologies adopted by cooperatives, Hayila’s face exuded a proud expression.

At present, intelligent management technology has covered all aspects of cooperative agricultural production. Haytreya introduced that this year, the cooperative has introduced the latest integrated intelligent irrigation system for water and fertilizer, which can select any farmland within the monitoring range to achieve real-time monitoring of cotton moisture, seedling condition, growth, nutrition, diseases and pests, yield, and other aspects. During irrigation, allowing water and nutrients to be more accurately transported to the root soil of cotton through drip irrigation improves the accuracy of irrigation and fertilization, and increases the utilization rate of fertilizer by 10%.

In the eyes of Hayila, He Hongtao, who loves to learn and study, brought advanced cotton planting techniques to the villagers and taught them free of charge, making him admire them from the bottom of his heart. This also motivates him, who is almost seventy years old, to continuously learn new technologies and become a new type of professional farmer in the cooperative who understands technology and can farm.
