Cotton topping is at the right time to manage well and ensure a bumper harvest

Entering July, cotton is gradually blossoming and budding, entering a tense later stage of management. The majority of cotton farmers in Zepu County seize the time and do a good job in cotton topping and other management work, laying a solid foundation for this year’s cotton yield and harvest.

Recently, reporters saw Adira Nurmaimaiti’s family topping cotton in the cotton field of Tuwankara Yule Gun Village in Yima Township, facing the scorching sun. From the appearance of the cotton plant, it can be seen that due to proper field management in the early stage, her cotton is growing well. It is understood that topping can remove the advantage of cotton top growth, allowing nutrients to be transported downwards at the top, promoting early flowering and boll setting of cotton plants, reducing bud and boll shedding, thereby improving cotton quality and achieving the goal of increasing yield and income.

In recent years, under the guidance of township technicians, my cotton management skills have become increasingly mature. This is the critical period for cotton topping, and seizing the time to top cotton can promote cotton fruiting. With more cotton peaches, the yield will increase, and my income will also increase, “said Adira Nurmaimaimaiti.

At present, the cotton management work has entered a critical period, and various regions in Zepu County adhere to the principle of “from time to branch, and from branch to branch” topping, according to different cotton planting varieties and modes, adapting to local conditions, seizing favorable opportunities, and scientifically topping to ensure a high yield and harvest of cotton this year.

Abdul Keremu Abdul Reheman, director of the village committee of Tuwankara Yule Gun, said, “This is a crucial season for cotton management and protection. In order to achieve a high yield and harvest of cotton this year, we actively organize cotton growers to top the cotton. Currently, 1700 acres of cotton in our village have been topped, and the remaining few days can be completed.
