Sour papaya brings sweet days

Recently, the sour papaya planting base of Cizhulin Group in Xintang Village, Xinfu Town, Mojiang County, Pu’er City, Yunnan Province ushered in a harvest season. The sour papaya brought sweet days to the masses.

Entering the sour papaya planting base, patches of sour papaya trees are covered with reddish sour papayas. Villagers carry baskets on their backs, shuttle under the trees or climb ladders to harvest sour papayas, and their faces are filled with joy of harvest, just like those red sour papayas.

Sour papaya is one of the pillar industries in Xinfu Town. With the continuous expansion of the planting scale of sour papaya, the Xinfu Town Sour Papaya Association has organized a professional picking team to harvest the ripe sour papaya uniformly, while also providing convenience for individual farmers with limited picking conditions.

In recent years, Xinfu Town has followed the “four point” development model of “branch as the midpoint, association as the base point, chamber of commerce as the fulcrum, and farmers as the endpoint”, driving the development and planting of sour papaya among the people of Xintang Village, Naxian Village, Pingzhang Village, and Baisha Village, and strengthening the characteristic industry to empower rural revitalization. In 2022, the entire town has a planting area of over 3000 acres, with over 2500 acres put into production and an estimated output of over 3000 tons, with an output value of over 10 million yuan.
