Yunnan Menglian: Peanuts Welcoming Harvest

Recently, the peanuts in Jingxin Township, Menglian Dai Lahu people and Wa Autonomous County, Pu’er City, Yunnan Province welcomed the harvest. With the light wind and rain, the fragrance of the soil was blowing. The villagers invited their relatives and friends and “Binnong Saihi” to fight together. The division of labor was clear and orderly, and the seedlings were pulled up, washed, and harvested. As the peanut seedlings were pulled up one by one, strings of full peanuts burst out of the ground, reflecting the joy of the villagers’ harvest.

A villager from the Jingxin group in the Hui Ru village said with a smile, “This year’s peanut prices are more optimistic than expected. The market purchase price for colorful peanuts is 16 yuan per kilogram, and for black peanuts is 13 yuan per kilogram. The land in Hui Ru village is fertile, and the yield per mu can reach more than 1 ton. After calculation, one acre of peanuts can be sold for over 10000 yuan

In recent years, Jingxin Township has utilized its unique natural resource advantages and location advantages to vigorously promote the cultivation of peanuts since 2010. At the same time, it has selected seven colored peanuts and black peanuts with excellent taste and unique colors in peanut varieties. According to statistics, the peanut planting area in Jingxin Township has increased significantly this year compared to last year, with a planting area of over 7500 acres and an expected output of over 7600 tons. Planting peanuts has effectively promoted people’s income and assisted in rural revitalization.

It is reported that Hui Ru Village was evaluated as a spring planting peanut demonstration base in July this year, with 60 acres of peanut demonstration land. After joint production testing work by Menglian County Economic Station and Jingxin Township Agricultural Comprehensive Service Center, it was confirmed that the average yield per mu is 680 kilograms per mu, with an output value of 6800 yuan per mu and an expected output value of 408000 yuan. This effectively promotes the development of the peanut industry and becomes another pillar industry that Jingxin assists in rural revitalization.
