The planting area of lychee in Zengcheng, Guangzhou is nearly 200000 mu

In the midsummer of June, Danli is fragrant. At present, high-quality litchi varieties such as Zengcheng Gualv, Xianjinfeng, Guiwei and Lo mai chi have matured and come into the market, opening the new year’s litchi harvest season. According to statistics, the current planting area of Zengcheng lychee is 197000 acres, with over 70 cultivated varieties. The total output is expected to be about 48000 tons this year, a year-on-year increase of 3.9%.

Xianjinfeng, as the first late maturing and excellent lychee new variety approved by Guangdong Province, has been selected as a provincial and municipal agricultural leading variety for 10 consecutive years, with a nationwide promotion area of over 150000 acres. It is the variety with the largest promotion area and the best benefits approved for lychee new varieties in recent years.

Zengcheng lychee is sold both domestically and internationally. In 2022, the total lychee production in the region was 46200 tons, with a sales amount of nearly 2 billion yuan. In order to promote the brand construction of agricultural products, Zengcheng District has held 31 consecutive “Zengcheng Litchi Cultural Tourism Festival” since 1992, which has become one of the most attractive cultural cards of Zengcheng.
