Qianxi: Mechanization Boosts Agricultural Development

At present, the rice transplanting work in various regions of Qianxi City is nearing its end. In this year’s rice planting, the city has increased the use of agricultural machinery and promoted machine transplanting in fields with conditions, greatly improving the efficiency of transplanting. The mechanized operation has increased the horsepower for local rice cultivation.

When we entered the mechanized rice planting demonstration base in Baini Community, Jinxing Town, Qianxi City, farmers were carrying seedling trays for mechanical transplanting. The agricultural machinery operators of the agricultural machinery cooperatives skillfully placed trays of green seedlings on the machine table, and then operated the Rice transplanter to quickly shuttle into the field. Each seedling was planted neatly from the tray into the field, and soon the paddy field was covered with “green clothes”.

This seedling planting machine is fast and will not cause any ‘trapped seedlings’ after planting, resulting in a particularly high survival rate. The difference between agricultural machine transplanting and manual transplanting is deeply felt by agricultural machine operator Xiao Shixiang.

Compared to traditional manual rice transplanting, high standard and high-quality mechanized rice transplanting can not only ensure the depth and spacing of rice seedlings in the field are consistent, but also reduce labor and cost, improve quality and efficiency, save time and effort, and free the people from heavy physical labor, promoting stable grain production and income.

Yang Ya, Director of the Agricultural Machinery Service Center of the Qianxi Agriculture and Rural Bureau, calculated that traditional manual transplanting can only plant around 9000 plants per mu of land, while mechanized transplanting can plant over 12000 plants per mu of land. Compared to this, more than 3000 plants have been planted, and the plant spacing is also more standardized. One acre of land requires two workers for manual transplanting, which requires at least 300 yuan in labor costs. The cost of mechanized transplanting is estimated to be around 60 yuan per acre, saving 240 yuan per acre and can be completed in about 30 minutes, greatly improving efficiency.

Jinxing Town in Qianxi has been known as the “land of fish and rice” since ancient times. The Neizhuang Datianba, Bainitianba, Muzha Heitianba, and Honghu Terraced Fields in the town are all the main production areas of high-quality and characteristic rice in Qianxi City. The Agricultural and Rural Bureau of Qianxi City has set up a demonstration site for mechanized seedling planting in Jinxing Town to promote mechanized seedling planting technology while promoting agricultural production mechanization and modernization in multiple townships throughout the city.
