Further Improvement of Grain Quality through Drone Fertilization

On August 7th, a drone flew back and forth in the fields of Pinduan Village, Xingzipu Town, Shuangfeng County, spraying water-soluble fertilizer in an orderly manner. This is a major benefit measure taken by Shuangfeng County to improve grain quality and degrade heavy metals.

Shuangfeng County is a major agricultural county that mainly grows rice, but due to the excessive heavy metal cadmium, it affects the quality of rice and has adverse effects on physical health. In order to degrade heavy metal cadmium, Shuangfeng County has decided to carry out drone spraying of water-soluble fertilizer in some key areas of the county to degrade the content of heavy metal cadmium and ensure food safety.

At 6 o’clock in the morning, the staff arrived at Pinduan Village early and sprayed medicine on the village square. With a gust of wind, the drone flew into the sky with a “whoosh” sound. The staff tightly grasped the control handle, and the drone obediently sprayed the medicine evenly on the rice field.

According to staff member Yi Yezhou, the drone sprayed water-soluble fertilizer, a type of foliar fertilizer that mainly degrades the content of heavy metal cadmium and contains potassium, which can strengthen the stem and resist lodging. This not only improves grain quality but also increases grain yield.

It is currently a hot summer weather, and in order to achieve better results, the staff try to avoid construction during the high temperature period. Construction will be carried out from 5:30 am to 10 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm. Each unmanned machine sprays around 150 acres per hour, and the 500 acres of medium rice in Pinduan Village can be sprayed in less than 3 hours.

At present, more than 10 villages in Xingzipu Town, including Shuangshi, Shishui, and Longchang, have completed spraying, while other villages are proceeding in an orderly manner.
