Corn does not reduce production and increases income by one season of beans

Since the beginning of this year, Yuncheng County in Heze City has deeply implemented the national strategy of “storing grain in the land and storing grain in technology”, with food safety production as the main line, and vigorously promoted the technology of soybean and corn belt composite planting throughout the county, continuously improving land use and output rates, achieving grain and soybean rotation and dual income in one land, effectively promoting agricultural efficiency and farmers’ income.

At present, it is an important growth stage for soybean bulging and corn milk ripening, as well as a key period for the formation of soybean and corn belt composite planting yield. In the demonstration area of soybean and corn belt composite planting in Haiwang Village, Wu’an Town, Yuncheng County, contiguous farmland is lush and growing well. The technical personnel of the County Agriculture Bureau went deep into the fields and conducted on-site production testing on the plot of local grain grower Wang Jingfeng. Thanks to favorable weather conditions and the assistance and guidance of agricultural technicians throughout the process, Wang Jingfeng’s over 100 acres of soybean and corn are growing well and a bumper harvest is in sight.

This year is the second year for Wang Jingfeng to carry out soybean corn strip compound planting. With the assistance and guidance of agricultural technicians throughout the entire process, last year, while ensuring corn yield, more than 230 kilograms of soybeans were produced per acre of land. With the planting experience from the previous year, Wang Jingfeng is more proficient, and this year’s planting area has expanded to over 150 acres.

It is understood that soybean and corn belt composite planting can increase the spacing of corn planting lines, reduce plant spacing, fully utilize the height difference between soybean and corn, achieve synergistic symbiosis of the two crops and double harvest in one season. At the same time, soybean rhizobia have the function of nitrogen fixation and fertilization, and can also provide nutrients for corn growth, thus achieving complementary advantages and harmonious symbiosis.

This year, the planting area of soybean and corn belt composite planting in Yuncheng County is 30000 mu. In the early stage, the Agriculture and Rural Bureau of Yuncheng County actively mobilized professional cooperatives, family farms, and large planting households to pilot the planting. In order to coordinate the unified prevention and control of two different crops, Yuncheng County has established seven expert groups to sink the field land, provide technical guarantee for the corn and soybean belt composite planting fields, track and guide all aspects of planting and management throughout the process, ensure that the field management measures of farmers are accurate and in place, have significant effects on disease and pest control, and consolidate the foundation of autumn grain yield.
