Serving the field, technology helps to revitalize the seed industry

Food security is the “greatest of the country”, and seeds are the key to ensuring food security. At present, it is a critical period for Hybrid rice seed production. In order to improve the technical level of hybrid rice seed production for large seed producers, improve the yield and quality of rice seed production, and promote the high-quality development of seed production industry in Cengong County.

Recently, Wang Jifeng and Shi Bangzhi, members of the provincial rice industry system, and Long Jianghui, Huang Yougang and Xu Ya, members of the Cengong County Service Group of the Rice Institute of the Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences, led a delegation to Cengong County and Yuping County to carry out key technical guidance for Hybrid rice seed production, and send the technology to the field to help stabilize rice seed production and increase income.

The meeting of florescence is the premise and important condition for Hybrid rice to improve the outcrossing seed setting rate and ensure the yield. It is understood that this year, Lvxing Agricultural Company carried out a large-scale seed production demonstration of “Xiangliangyou Guifuzhan” and “Xiangliangyou 619” high-quality hybrid rice in Miaoluo Village, Tianma Town, Cengong County. The technical team first went to the seed production base in Miaoluo Village, Tianma Town to check the growth status of the parents. They observed the morphology and process of the differentiation and development of the parents’ young ears in the field through the method of young ear peeling to determine whether they started the ears at the same time.

Through dissection, the current female parent Qianxiang 619S for seed production is basically in the fourth stage of young spike differentiation, and the technical team experts predict that the variety will start to spike in 12 to 15 days. The male parent for the first stage of seed production is also in the third stage of young spike differentiation, and the flowering stage can basically meet. In response to the current situation of young spike differentiation, experts advise seed producers to do a good job in field management, impurity removal, disease and pest prevention and control, especially in response to the heavy occurrence of rice leaf roller pests, to carry out pest prevention and control, ensure good growth of rice plants, and ensure stable and increased seed yield.

Then, the technical team went to Duma Village, the provincial science and technology commissioner demonstration base in Tianma Town, Cengong County to check the growth of parent materials for mechanized seed production of new varieties, the growth of green and efficient planting fields of high-quality rice, and Pest control. The demonstration base is a joint effort of Huang Yougang, Long Jianghui and Xu Ya, special commissioners for science and technology, and Fukun Rice Planting Cooperative in Cengong County to carry out the research and technology demonstration of mechanized seed production of new varieties, green and efficient planting of high-quality rice. The base covers an area of more than 300 mu. On site, the technical team discovered that the demonstration base was strictly managed according to the technical plan in the early stage. Currently, the new varieties are growing well in the field, and disease and pest prevention and control are in place, providing a strong guarantee for the later yield increase.
