Henan Building Smart Agriculture “Kaifeng Model”

In the smart greenhouse of the first phase of the efficient and smart agricultural industry cluster project in Kaifeng, Henan, tens of thousands of tomatoes are in their prime fruiting season, with red and green colors hanging all over their branches, making them very tempting.

On the afternoon of May 22nd, a reporter from Chao News accompanied the interview team of “Exploring the Brilliant Henan Competitive Entry Code -2023 National Mainstream Integrated Media Looking at Henan Deep Research” to come here to deeply explore the new model of facility agriculture in Kaifeng, Henan, which helps to promote rural revitalization.

Entering the modern smart glass greenhouse of Kaifeng’s efficient and smart agricultural industry cluster, a scene of abundant harvests catches our eyes.

Row after row of three-dimensional soilless cultivation tomato hangers are neatly arranged, with tomato vines over 3 meters high covered in fruits, red as agate and green as jade, each round and plump.

The Kaifeng Efficient Smart Agriculture Industry Cluster Project conforms to the national strategy of high-quality development in the same city of Zhengzhou and Kaifeng, and is located in the core development area of the Kaifeng City Industry City Integration Demonstration Zone. It is an important construction content of the Yuzi Green Life and Rural Revitalization Demonstration Project, with a total investment of 2 billion yuan. The project focuses on building a 1 million square meter glass smart greenhouse, mainly planting crops such as tomatoes, fruit cucumbers, and colored peppers.

As the seventh batch of “three batches” construction projects in Henan Province, the first phase of the project was completed on October 1, 2022, and harvesting began at the end of December. The planting varieties include 78000 square meters of large powder tomatoes and 5800 square meters of small tomatoes (string harvesting cherry red small tomatoes and summer sunshine small tomatoes). Currently, the average daily production is 14 tons, and the designed harvesting cycle ends in mid July, with a total output of 5 million kilograms.

The design leader of the Kaifeng Smart Agriculture Industry Cluster Project of Palm Ecological Town Development Co., Ltd. introduced that “delicious” benefits from modern smart agriculture technology. Under the smart agricultural production model, by accurately adjusting production conditions such as water and fertilizer, the acidity and sweetness of tomatoes can be customized

Moreover, the project adopts internationally advanced facility agricultural equipment and technology, as well as factory production technologies such as imported environmental control systems from the Netherlands, integrated water and fertilizer systems, carbon dioxide control systems, and suspended cultivation systems. Through vegetable photosynthesis and carbon sequestration, advanced technology and equipment, standardized management, the organic combination of high-tech and facility agriculture has truly achieved precision, efficiency, and ecology, changing the traditional agricultural work mode.
