Lingling: Smart Agriculture Transforms into a “Golden Mountain”

On May 19th, the author and his team drove to Youtingwei Town, Lingling District. Along a winding and rugged newly built cement road, they arrived at the top of a hill in the town. In front of them were layers of terraced fields cultivated along the mountain, large sheds built alongside the mountains, and hills of tomatoes and chili peppers growing in the sun, creating a vibrant scene.

Ms. Ai Zhengzheng, the project leader from Chongqing, introduced that the Dasheng Smart Agriculture Complex is a government investment attraction project in Lingling District. The main party of the project is Yongzhou Yuanrong Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., jointly established by Shenzhen Dasheng Capital Management Co., Ltd. and Sichuan Commercial Investment Group. The contracted land for the project is 10000 mu, and the land development will be carried out in three phases. Currently in the first phase, the industrial base covers an area of 520 acres. The industrial direction is a high-tech project with functional rice and tomatoes as the main varieties, with research and development, breeding, seed production, and promotion as the core. The entire project adopts modern facilities such as a water and fertilizer head system, segmented pressure regulation system, zoning management system, intelligent secondary irrigation, high priced multi building greenhouses, and unmanned plant protection aircraft. The facilities are integrated into a management system through the Internet of Things, forming a relatively complete intelligent agricultural facility system.

Faced with these professional introductions, the author looked puzzled. Ms. Ai smiled and said: Let me tell you a few specific things to experience the charm of smart agriculture. When laying water pipes in the ground and needing watering or fertilizing, it can be done in the office or other places through computer or mobile phone operation, and the water or fertilizer amount can be accurately controlled to milligrams. For example, the planting management is completed using drones, and the mountains and ridges of the base are completely flat. In terms of variety selection, our paddy fields are planted with self-developed high resistance starch rice As the core product, it is a functional hybrid rice targeting the high blood sugar population, which has been successfully planted and has received good market response

It is reported that the project was introduced in 2019 and has invested more than 25 million yuan to complete the construction of infrastructure such as road networks, field networks, canal networks, and power grids. It has preliminarily completed the construction of industrial facilities such as soil improvement, soil fertilizer shaping, intelligent greenhouses, secondary irrigation, and agricultural resource big data backend. In 2022, research and development and production were fully carried out. Last year, more than 200 acres of two season high resistant starch rice were planted, with a yield of 1000 kilograms of rice per acre of two seasons, 100 yuan per kilogram sold to the Hong Kong and Macao markets; We have experimented with multiple tomato varieties with a yield of 1000 kilograms per mu, targeting the Hong Kong and Macao markets. Each kilogram can be sold for 120 yuan, which has high potential for output value.

Chen Weijun, the president of Youtingwei Branch of Yongzhou Rural Commercial Bank who came together, took over the conversation and said, “Smart agriculture has shown us the great charm of high-tech agriculture. He has turned the barren mountains here into ‘golden mountains’. In the past two years, our bank has taken the initiative to connect with this project, boldly followed up, and provided timely credit support. It is completely correct and feasible to extend a credit of 1.5 million yuan in the first phase.” Ai Zhengzheng stated that the subsequent development of smart agriculture, We will collaborate with major growers and cooperatives in the region to develop characteristic varieties and drive the prosperity of local people. This is the development vision of the Dasheng Smart Agriculture Complex project.
