Trial planting of “greenhouse rice” in Yushan

Have you ever heard of “greenhouse rice”? Recently, green late rice seedlings were planted in the high standard greenhouse of the small tomato planting base in Liudu Township, Yushan County. This is really something new!

On the early morning of July 22nd, the person in charge of the base, Liu Zhen, and a dozen workers were busy working in the greenhouse field. The growth cycle of late rice is 4-5 months, and now it is the key node for transplanting. Liu Zhen told reporters that the base plants fruit and vegetable products such as small tomatoes from mid February to mid June, and late rice from July to November. This dual use of one land and one greenhouse for two cultivation can not only improve soil, reduce pests and diseases, improve the quality of small tomatoes, but also ensure the safe production of rice. Greenhouse rice cultivation has a short growth cycle, is not affected by external environmental interference, and has a light occurrence of diseases and pests, which can reduce the use of fertilizers and pesticides, making it more environmentally friendly and healthy; Moreover, after the harvest of late rice, returning straw to the field can improve soil fertility, assist in high vegetable yield, and achieve ecological cycling.

It is understood that the base will start trial planting “greenhouse rice” in 2021, and the yield in the first two years can reach 800-900 jin/mu. In order to achieve the goal of “cherishing and rational utilization of every inch of land”, the base has collaborated with our Municipal Academy of Agricultural Sciences this year to develop planting standards for “greenhouse rice”, effectively improve the “gold content” of the land, and make positive attempts to expand the rice vegetable rotation model in the coming year. The relevant person in charge of the municipal agricultural department stated that “greenhouse rice” is currently in the trial planting stage, and its greater significance lies in guarding the red line of arable land and improving grain yield.

At present, the cultivated land reserve in Yushan County is stable at 360200 mu, and the permanent basic farmland protection area is stable at 318200 mu. In order to ensure food security and realize the strategy of “storing grain in the ground and storing grain in technology”, the agricultural department of Yushan County actively promotes the implementation of grain production support policies, speeds up the construction of high standard farmland, pays attention to the prevention and control of soil pollution of cultivated land, guides new business entities to develop grain production, and curbs the tendency of “non grain”. Focusing on major grain crops, we will focus on developing specialized and socialized services such as agricultural production trusteeship, and support specialized service companies such as the “Three Strong Farmers” in Yushan to provide trusteeship services for small farmers; Accelerate land transfer, introduce large growers, promote large-scale operation, promote cost saving and efficiency increase in agriculture, and form a batch of characteristic industries, such as small tomatoes in Liudu Township, garlic in Linhu, and ginger in Siguqiao; Improve land use efficiency, actively promote production methods such as “rice oil rotation”, “rice shrimp rotation”, and “rice vegetable rotation”, and enrich the industrial structure.
