New Farmers’ “Flying” on the Road to Wealth

During the beginning of autumn, the rice growing vigorously in Jintun Town, Jiaxiang County, Shandong Province is out of sight, presenting a scene of abundant harvest. At the rice planting base of Dingsheng Planting Family Farm in Jiaxiang County, plant protection drone pilot Huang Haotian skillfully operated the remote control. A plant protection drone rose into the air and carried out precise spraying operations along the established route.

Huang Haotian is a new farmer in our village, relying on drones to ‘fly’ out of the road to wealth. “Beside the road, Huang Bochang, a villager from Xingang Village, sighed while watching drone defense operations.

Huang Haotian, 29 years old this year, is from Xingang Village, Jintun Town. Three years ago, he worked for a company in Jining. In his spare time, he studied flight prevention technology at a after-sales service station set up by a drone enterprise in Jining and obtained a certificate of qualification for plant protection drone system operators. Seeing that drone defense has “money” prospects, in March 2021, Huang Haotian decisively acquired his first agricultural drone T30. In May of this year, he once again acquired an agricultural drone T40, with a total cost of more than 100000 yuan for both machines.

Nowadays, the country provides subsidies for grain cultivation, protects arable land heavily, and solidifies the rice bowl. In addition, with the increasing number of grain farmers and family farms in the town, small fields have become large fields, and flying defense has a market and money to make. “Huang Haotian said bluntly,” Taking pesticide spraying in rice fields as an example, the price for spraying one acre is around 4 yuan, and agricultural drones can work on more than 200 acres per hour, with a profit of up to 800 yuan per hour

Drones can prevent and control pests and diseases, and when paired with a seeder, they can also sow seeds and fertilizers, saving time, effort, and money. “Huang Xueding, a grain grower and head of Dingsheng Planting Family Farm in Jiaxiang County, said quickly.” Because of the obvious advantages of drones, we have established a long-term cooperative relationship with Huang Haotian.

According to Huang Haotian, drone operations cover the entire year. From February to March, not only can they provide wheat sowing and fertilizer operations, but they can also provide weed spraying operations; Wheat can be sprayed with pests from April to May; From June to August, closed weeding, pest control, sterilization, and fertilization operations can be carried out on rice; September to October is the wheat sowing season, and wheat seed sowing operations can be provided; From November to December, wheat sowing and fertilizer application operations can be provided. During the intermission period, one can also go to other places to carry out flight prevention operations in wheat fields, rice fields, lotus root fields, corn fields, cotton fields, orchards, and forests.

Coincidentally, in Jialou Village, Jintun Town, 40 year old Zhang Haixing transferred over 200 acres of land to his fellow villagers and invested more than 60000 yuan to purchase an agricultural drone T50. In addition to meeting his farming needs, he also provided flight defense services for grain crops such as wheat and corn and cash crops to the villagers in the surrounding villages, increasing his income by over 100000 yuan per year.

Possess new technology and become a “golden rice bowl”. Nowadays, Huang Haotian and Zhang Haixing operate drones and run around Jintun Town and its surrounding areas, relying on high-quality and efficient services to boost their “money bags” and embark on the road to wealth, becoming a typical example of entrepreneurship and wealth for local new farmers.

When it comes to the future, Huang Haotian is full of confidence and said, “I really love flying as a profession because it not only allows me to work more freely, but also increases my income. Next, I will strive to improve my flying skills, fly every piece of land conscientiously and responsibly. At the same time, I am willing to share operational skills with my peers to help increase grain production, agricultural efficiency, and farmers’ income in the entire town.
